We recommend you read the instructions first before commencing to understand the process of the steps and to prevent you having to look back at them mid way through a step. We wouldn’t want your fingers getting stuck in your hair tie between step 2 and 3.
Step 1: It’s important to identify if your hair is straight or curly to get the best results. For those with straight hair you might want to use a curling iron to curl your hair a little at the ends. This will help to make the hair tuck a little better into the bun. If you have a wave or curl to your hair then you get to skip this step.
Step 2: Flip your hair over and gather everything into a ponytail on top of you head, securing it with an elastic hair tie.
Step 3: On the last time around with the hair tie, only pull the ponytail through half way.
Step 4: Take the loop you’ve created and spread it out. Widen it and allow it to be somewhat messy.
Step 5: Take the bottom end of your hair and wrap it around the ponytail base where your elastic is.
Step 6: Pin the end of the ponytail to the base using a couple of hair pins/bobby pins.
Step 7: Pull on pieces and then pin them down. This will give your fun bun a slightly more messy texture. Play around with step to achieve your desired look.
Step 8: Spray a small amount of hairspray all over. If you are looking for a messy look don’t smooth down all of the fly aways, just lightly tuck the pieces that have gone rogue! Otherwise achieve a sleeker look by applying more hairspray and ensuring all bits are nicely smoothed down.
Enjoy your FUN BUN!
Check out Gwen Stafani, Cara Delvingne rocking the fun bun with a sultry smoky eye or opt from a cleaner look like Jessica Hart and Julianne Hough.
